Matt Goodman (drums) and Mel Brown (bass) are two musicians who enjoy some of the finer things in life:  Good friendship, a nice cup o’ joe, and of course, the music of Steely Dan.  Meeting on a gig, they quickly discovered a shared, copacetic approach to playing music on the band stand, and living life away from it.  A solid friendship ensued, and the rumblings of a groovy Steely unit began to take shape.

The Bad Sneakers band came to fruition in the summer of 2006, the result of Matt and Mel’s java-inspired listening sessions.  The original lineup was strong, and it enjoyed unexpected, unprecedented success at all of its shows.  After a short hiatus, Matt and Mel returned, resurrecting the Sneakers with some new faces and a fresh sound.

Affection for the music of Steely Dan is shared by both musicians and music lovers the world over.  Paying tribute to icons of such stature can be a risky proposition for any aspiring group.  Fortunately, the musicianship, class, and genuine enthusiasm of the Sneaker squad has won the respect of audiences time and time again.  As the adage goes, “no risk, no reward.”
